Now that we are beginning to reopen indoors for services, we will also begin to do business meetings safely in the fellowship hall, so we are beginning to reinstate those business meetings starting in July. We will be having our first one Tuesday, July 21st at 7:30pm. This is different than our normal Wednesday meeting. It has been shifted a little later by the deacons to give us a little more time to get things ready for that meeting. As for the reason we are doing it on a Tuesday evening, we are also doing our replacement VBS activity on Wednesday evenings from July 15th through August 5th. We have moved it to a Tuesday to not interfere with those evenings. Use the same guidelines of entrance and exit into the church building as set for Sunday indoor service and we highly encourage the use of masks. You will not need to bring your own chairs for this meeting.
In that church business meeting, there are a couple of things that need to be addressed to prepare for our new church ministry year:
1. You will need to bring nominations for the Nominating Committee at this business meeting. This will be done by ballot that will be placed on your chair. On that ballot, you will see the names of those that are already serving that you cannot nominate. Please place two names on the ballot that you have asked beforehand if they would be willing to serve. This helps when the Nominating Committee takes the nominations and makes contact with them. Those that are willing to serve will be published to the church before the August business meeting. Those that have been formally nominated and willing to serve will then be voted on by a formal ballot at the August business meeting.
Our current members on the Nominating Committee who are not eligible for selection are: Tim Belch, Matthew Simons, Charlotte Baker, Tammy Overton, Stacey Banks, and Karen Huey.
2. You will also need to come prepared to elect deacons at this coming business meeting.
Remember, you will elect four men from the active church membership. First, remember the biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (ESV). Secondly, you need to first ask if that person is willing to serve as a deacon. They will serve for three years starting on September 1st. Current Deacons serving that are not eligible for election are: Tim Belch, Tom Brooks, Phil Huey, Lloyd Parrish, David Earley, Eric Goodwin, Chris Layton, Carroll Skinner, Curtis Byrum, Sr., Lonnie Coker, Kevin Goodwin, and Matthew Simons.
8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
Thank you again for your patience and be prayerfully considering these nominations for both areas of ministry here at Macedonia Baptist. Looking forward to pushing forward in seeking God's will for the church together!
